Sledgin

Today an article came about the way aussies sledge et al.
i found an interesting link to see..
http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/05/16/1052885405496.html
below are the excerpts frm it:
McGrath v Sarwan ... how it happened
". . . if we meet, we shall not 'scape a brawl; for now, these hot days, is the mad blood stirring." Benvolio, Romeo and Juliet. The fourth Test between Australia and the West Indies certainly had its share of Shakespearean moments - the drama of a record second-innings run chase, the colour of the Antiguan crowd, the tension of the on-field confrontations.
The fourth day proved most eventful. The West Indian vice-captain, 21-year-old Ramnaresh Sarwan, was steering his side towards a second-innings total of 417; one that would save them from the indignity of a 4-0 Test series whitewash.
At the other end, fast bowler Glenn McGrath was desperately trying to turn the game Australia's way. But having been belted for 21 runs in two overs, McGrath could contain himself no longer, and resorted to an unoriginal, homophobic-themed sledge, with Sarwan replying with an equally cliched retort relating to his rival's wife.
McGrath to Sarwan: "What does Brian Lara's ---- taste like?"
Sarwan replied: "I don't know, ask your wife."
McGrath began to walk away before turning back and heading to within a foot of Sarwan, screaming: "If you ever f------ mention my wife again, I'll f------ rip your f------ throat out."
McGrath complained to umpire David Shepherd that Sarwan had referred to his wife Jane (who is having treatment for cancer).
Sledging folklore
"It's round, it's red and it's got six stitches in it." - English county bowler to West Indian Viv Richards after he had played and missed several times.
"Hey man. You know what it looks like - go fetch it." - Richards in reply, after hitting the next ball to the fence.
"Why are you so fat?" - Glenn McGrath to Zimbabwean Eddo Brandes.
"Because every time I #&$!@ your wife, she gives me a biscuit." - Brandes's reply.
"You don't get a runner for being an overweight, unfit, fat #$&!%." - Australian wicketkeeper Ian Healy after Sri Lankan captain Arjuna Ranatunga asked for a runner during a one-day match.
"Can't bowl, can't throw." - Nine network cameraman Joe Previtera after a wayward return by Australian bowler Scott Muller. Originally attributed to Shane Warne.
"We don't want you here, get out of my ground!" - Yorkshire bowler Steve Kirby to Steve Waugh in an English county match.
"No, I won't, this is my favourite pitch. And who are you, the *#@%& mayor?" - Waugh's reply.
"The cheque's in the mail." - An SCG spectator to Pakistan's Salim Malik after he was dismissed in the final Test match of the 1995 series. Malik had made a comeback after being embroiled in a match-fixing scandal.
"These people have not come to watch you bowl. They have come to watch me bat." - England's W. G. Grace, reportedly by way of explanation for his refusal to leave the crease when dismissed.
"No need to sledge me. I've been sledged more times than you've had pisses." - India's Sunil Gavaskar replying to a Simon O'Donnell sledge.

Applicant form for Pakistan PM aspirant

This is taken frm today's Hindu..and I think is relevant (and cliche'd ) to every country's context..

the form asks applicant to chose from a list of reasons for applying :"to escape court trial;to make more money;to grossly misuse power;to serve the people[if u choose this ,attach certificate of sanity from a recognised, very well-known psychiatrist];don't know"

p.s.:more questions are welcome and u will get my vote if u stand for the PM's vote;)

Tata vs Ambanis

A couple of weekz back,CNN pe ppl said tht ambani brothers are the richest family in world...
Are they icons ? Was the question they were asking..
In my opinion.. i never like reliance group, that grp symbolises greed to me.. they've twisted every law to get to top and make money.. and never gave back to the society from which they make money
now in contrast see tatas
dhirubhai will never attain the stature of JRD.. because he never took the social responsibility
and dhirubhai's kids.. will never attain the stature of their father..
tatas.. gave back to the society.. see TIFR, IISc.. and many more instis..
ambani opened one coll where they charge..close to 1lac pa.. so much for social responsibility
newayz another article came in Business World's editorial this week tht reliance is gud .becoz progress cant be made without manipulation and blah blah..bt I still am not convinced abt the fact ..
wat we could say was tht there is a lot of reliance on Tata for social upliftment..
will smbody help me???

Indo-Pak FIX(ed)ture

Now u may call me a sceptic or a non-indian fr saying all this and i will draw a lot of flak frm every1 mayb ...bt i think tht yesterday's match ws pure sensationalization and a mockery of th gentleman's game..it ws to feed the 24-hr channels and the coffers of the cricketers and all those involved in the hoopla of the game..the way it went down the wire to the last ball and the way misbah got out reflects this..actually the way every1 gt out...frm afridi to yuvi to dhoni to younus khan to shoaib malik..even the pakis(including the coach) dint look tht unhappy since a lot of money awaits them for losing to India..Afridi and Yuvraj represent the backbone of the young Pak and Indian teams so it ws necessary to give them also a share..afridi got a man of the series and yuvi got a porsche and lods of money..It ws jst wt ws needed to reinstigate the lost appetite for cricket and in the wake of the upcoming series against australia and Pakistan...I jst rediscovered tht we jst dont hav ne role in the world rite now:)

12:27 AM me: match dyaan nahi tha kya tujhe jo so raha tha???/////!!!!!!
mayank: abe main nahi dekhta match wagerah
12:28 AM me: mein bhi chod chuka tha..bt englans series ese fir dekhan shuru kar diya
mayank: i'm of the opinion that most matches are fixed
me: ye to definitely fixed tha..and even the semis
so tht india and pak mile...bahut paise mile honge...nz aur australia ko haarne ke liye
and then aaj pakis ko haarne ke liye bahut zyada
specially malik and afridi...
mayank: yeah afridi
mera bhi yahi manana hai
aur india aur pak ka bowl out wala match
toh 101% fix tha
me:defintely
yaar wc ke baad viewrshi gt screwed..
to isko waapis upar karne ke liye..kuch karna zaruri tha\
mayank:aaj toh we were talking ki pak ka coach toh security camera ke aage soya hoga..
me: interest doob gaya tha...india ko jeetana zaruri tha....

Meow 104.8 FM

Now this is not a eilogue to my previous Cat related blog..

an avid radio listener(in patches so to say),I am a big fan of Vandy frm the "just for you" fame on FM rainbow..It used to be a must listen for me every afternoon after coming from school in the heydayz..bt fter comin to coll i hvnt followed it much ..only on holidayz do i get the time to listen to all those familiar pseudonyms on it.

newayzz globalization has hit radio too with a spurt of fm channels coming along..

Recently I happened to hear Meoww..its insanely stupid in its content and asks every new caller to say meow in the strt and in the end..and the person conducting this is (I'm sure) all happy and Gay.Like last night he was asking all the girls 5 things they want in their guyz...and believe me all the girls completely bedazzled me..I wish their wishes are fulfilled as done in Bedazzled by Liz Hurley;) or they will have to marry five guys to get all these qualities like Panchali and get to be called a Sl**..Believe me all the qualities are highly unrealistic and they should realize tht they are not tht perfect to deserve so much..Waise I am thinking of calling them up as a girl and sayin that i need a guy who can wash clothes, make food, clean the home, make money and.....I think I am getting a little to anti-feminist so I will let you judge.Infact I will end with Meow

I see

I read this story (frm Allan Pease's book)about how we donot see wat we can see.
And i thought tht i mst share it with ya.

Two men were walking through the woods when they came
across a big deep hole.
'Wow ... that looks deep,' says one. 'Let's toss a few pebbles
in and see how deep it is.'
They threw in a few pebbles and waited, but there was no
sound.
'Gee - that is a really deep hole. Let's throw one of these
big rocks in. That should make a noise.'
They picked up two football-sized rocks and tossed them
into the hole and waited, but still they heard nothing.
'There's a railway sleeper over here in the weeds,' said one.
'If we toss that in, it's definitely going to make some noise.'
They dragged the heavy sleeper over to the hole and heaved it
in, but not a sound came from the hole.
Suddenly, out of the nearby woods, a goat appeared,
running like the wind. It rushed towards the two men and ran
right between them, running as fast as its legs could go. Then
it leaped into the air and disappeared into the hole. The two
men stood there, astonished at what they'd just seen.
Out of the woods came a farmer who said, 'Hey! Did you
guys see my goat?'
'You bet we did! It was the craziest thing we've ever seen! It
came running like the wind out of the woods and jumped
into that hole!'
'Nah,' says the farmer. 'That couldn't have been my goat.
My goat was chained to a railway sleeper!'
